The medical professional at the department along with the paramedical staff ensures that all the medical emergencies are given prompt attention and refered to concerned departments.

The 30 bedded fully equipped Emergency department of Yenepoya Medical College Hospital is well prepared to handle all kind of emergencies and disasters. The doctors, nurses and paramedics in the Emergency department of YMCH are highly skilled in performing emergency procedures such as intubation, chest tube insertion and stabilize traumatized patients and lives saving measures.

Emergency Medicine is a branch of medicine that specializes on the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions that require immediate attention and intervention. Emergency physicians manage a wide range of medical emergencies, including trauma, heart attacks, strokes, respiratory distress, severe infections, and other acute conditions.

Emergency medicine physicians triage patients, stabilize their condition, and decide on appropriate treatments or referrals. They are skilled in performing emergency procedures, such as intubation, chest tube insertion, and wound management.

The facility for teaching UG and PG students is adequate and the faculty is providing excellent training to the postgraduates

The Department of Emergency Medicine is dedicated to improving outcomes of acutely ill and injured patients through high quality, cost efficient care, education, and research with compassion and respect for each patient to educate physicians in the discipline of emergency medicine, so that they may provide excellence in emergency care to those patients and to advance the science of emergency medicine through research, for the ultimate benefit of the health and well-being of all emergency patients throughout our society.
