Anaesthesia

Department of Anaesthesiology started in the year 1999 and managing 18 operation theatres in the hospital complex. The Department is also managing the Intensive Care Units including the surgical ICU and the Post operative recovery rooms. It has advanced equipments in addition to the routine ones required for safe conduct of anaesthesia. The facility for teaching UG and PG students is adequate and the faculty is providing excellent training to the postgraduates. Department has PAC clinic, Pain and Palliative Medicine Clinic. In addition to a museum and fully equipped Centralized Yenepoya Research Centre for the research projects of the Department.

Vission

  • To provide quality care for the patients requiring surgery in Yenepoya Medical College Hospital which is accomplished by proper pre anaesthetic evaluation in the clinic, administering appropriate anaesthesia during surgery, providing adequate pain relief after surgery and looking after the patient in the post operative period.
  • The vision is to use the safest and modern anaesthetic techniques and agents so that the post graduates are exposed to state of art technology and latest trends in the field of anaesthesia. This will stimulate learning and research activities not only among the post graduate students but also among the faculty members.
  • To produce Anaesthesiologists of the future who can administer safe and quality anesthesia to the patients. The anaesthesiologists who are aware of the recent advances in the field of anaesthesia and who have the motivation to do the research in the field for a better patient care in the perioperative period.

We have an annual intake of 250 students for MBBS and 9 students for MD in Anaestheiology programme.
