Congratulations to Dr Manjunath Shenoy M , Dr. B H Shekar & Dr. Parameshwar R. Hegde for the successful patent grant of invention "A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MASKING AND REMOVING NOISE FROM DIGITAL IMAGES ". The application is used to remove both thin and thick hairs from dermoscopic and digital skin images without affecting the diseased area. It helps users quickly and effectively examine large areas of skin and provides a simple, user-friendly graphical interface (GUI) for easy handling and analysis.

Dr Safdar Aftab A and Dr Gopika Kamal,_ Assistant Professors, Department of General Medicine, Yenepoya Medical College, received the Dr. J. C. Patel & Dr. B. C. Mehta Best Paper Award (2nd Best Original Article) under the JAPI Awards at the 81st APICON Conference 2025–26, held at Patna, Bihar (29 January–1 February 2026) for article titled “Diagnostic Accuracy of World Health Organization Case Definitions for Acute Febrile Illness: A Tertiary Care Hospital-Based Study”

Dr. Amar Sunil Lobo, Associate Professor in Microbiology, Yenepoya Medical College, won three medals at the National Master’s Games held at Late Meena Tai Thackeray Stadium, Nashik, Maharashtra, from January 28 to 31, 2026. He secured a Gold Medal in Hammer Throw and Bronze Medals in Triple Jump and Shot Put. The event was organized by the Master’s Games Association of Maharashtra and affiliated to the All India Master’s Sports (AIMS) Federation.

Dr. Manjunath Shenoy, Professor of Dermatology, Yenepoya Medical College, has been conferred the prestigious Fellow of the Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (FADVL) in recognition of his dedicated service to society and outstanding professional contributions. The honour was awarded during the 54th National Conference of the Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (DERMACON 2026) held at Bengaluru, Karnataka, from January 29 to February 1, 2026.

Dr. Malcolm Pinto, Professor and Head, Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology (DVL), Yenepoya Medical College, was honoured with the Dermaseva Award for his outstanding contributions to Community Dermatology. The award was conferred by the Indian Academy of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) during the 54th National Conference (DERMACON 2026) held at Bengaluru, Karnataka, from January 29 to February 1, 2026.

Dr Basma Reem Ameer, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, Yenepoya Medical College, for securing Third Place in the 2025 PABIN Case Study Competition for her work on Ethical Challenges in AI Health Innovation. She has also been invited to present her work and participate in the kick-off meeting of the Coalition for Health AI Innovation and Ethics (CHOICE) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

congratulations to Dr. Vinitha Ramanath Pai & Dr Vaishali Rai M for the successful patent grant of invention "ANTICANCER COMPOUND AND A PROCESS FOR ISOLATING THE SAME".
The present disclosure relates to an anticancer composition and a process for preparing the same. The present disclosure envisages an anticancer composition having urticic acid methyl ester, derived from Leucas linifolia, and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The anticancer composition of the present disclosure can be used for treating breast cancer.

Dr. Manjunath Shenoy Professor of Dermatology, YMC, has delivered the prestigious Suresh Chandra C. Sheth Oration at the Maharashtra State IMA conference MAHA-DERMA-IMA-CON in December 2025.
The title of the oration was “Managing Fungal Infections in 2025.”

Dr. Tina Susan Paul, Post Graduate, Department of General Surgery, Yenepoya Medical College, on securing First Prize in the Quiz Competition at the KMC Cancer Conclave 2026, organized by Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, held from 31 January to 1 February 2026.

Dr. Shima, Second Year Postgraduate from the Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy, Yenepoya Medical College, secured Second Place in the online PG Quiz final round of the All India Derma Championship, conducted on 16th January 2026.

Dr. Tina Susan Paul Second Year Post Graduate, Dept. of General Surgery First prize in the Quiz Competition at KMC Cancer Conclave 2026 organized by Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore from 31st January to 1st February 2026 at KMC Marena Indoor Sports and Educational Complex, Mangalore.

A provisional patent application has been successfully submitted for a "Passive Ankle Exo-Skeleton Orthotic Device" by Yenepoya (Deemed to be University). The inventor is Dr. Minna Basheer (Medical Intern, 2020 MBBS batch), and the inventor team includes Sanjeed Saalam Alungal and Vishnu R Madathil.

Ms. Abhirami T A, PhD Scholar, Department of Forensic Medicine, YMC has been awarded the *Best Poster Award* in the "Chemical and Biological Hazard" category at the 31st ICFoST National Conference, organized by AFSTI, Thanjavur (18–20 December 2025).
