AUDIOLOGY & SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY
The Department of Audiology & Speech–Language Pathology was initiated and functioned as a
Unit under the Department of Otorhinolaryngology since 2009. Later, in 2020, it was constituted
as an independent and is accredited by the Rehabilitation Council of India.
The Department has state-of-the-art technology, instruments, and software for screening,
diagnostic, and rehabilitative clinical services for persons with hearing, speech, language, and
communication disorders. It hosts trained professionals to impart clinical, teaching, and research
in Audiology & Speech Language Pathology.

COURSE DURATION
Three years of academic program plus ten months of internship.

The objectives of the B. ASLP program are to equip the students with knowledge and skills to:
- Function as audiologists and speech-language pathologists in different work settings
- Understand concepts in Speech, Language, Communication, and Hearing.
- To evaluate, diagnose, and assess the severity of different disorders related to speech, language, and hearing disorders.
- Provide immediate intervention for speech, language, hearing, and communication disorders across the lifespan.
- To counsel persons and their family members with the various rehabilitation services available and to ensure a better quality of life.
Eligibility
- The candidate applying for admission to the B. ASLP program should havevpassed the 10+2 examination or an equivalent examination conducted by the Pre- University Board of Education of the respective State Government, securing a minimum of 50% marks. Relaxation in the qualifying marks shall be as per the rules and regulations of the respective University / State/UTs or Central Government.
- The applicant/candidate should have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics / Computer Science / Statistics / Electronics / Psychology.

The department undertakes an external internship program for B. ASLP internees from recognized institutes and Universities.
- Value Added Course on Fundamentals of Kannada Language for Beginners
This course trains undergraduate health sciences students to develop communication skills in Kannada, which is essential for local clientele management.

The department has been empaneled under SAST for the cochlear implantation program, followed by free Auditory Verbal Therapy sessions for one year as per thescheme.
