The Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Yenepoya Medical College, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangalore has established itself as a national leader in vestibular education through its uniquely structured academic and clinical training programs in vertigo and balance disorders, including vestibular rehabilitation.

Through its certificate courses, the department has successfully trained more than 1000 healthcare professionals from across India and abroad, establishing itself as a nationally recognized centre of excellence in vestibular medicine education.

Alumni of these programs are successfully running vertigo clinics, balance assessment laboratories, and vestibular rehabilitation services across the country.

Besides in-house faculty, eminent experts from across the country are actively involved in these programs, with Dr. Srinivas Dorasala, a renowned academician and innovator in the field of vertigo and balance disorders, serving as the Lead Faculty.

Programs Offered

1. Certificate Course in Assessment and Management of Vertigo and Balance Disorders

Duration: 6 Months

This flagship certificate program is designed for medical professionals involved in the diagnosis and treatment of vertigo and balance disorders.

Key Highlights:

  • Comprehensive understanding of vestibular anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology
  • Training in vestibular diagnostic evaluation including VNG, vHIT, VEMP, ENG, posturography, and bedside tests
  • Practical exposure to canalith repositioning maneuvers, pharmacotherapy, and vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT)
  • Clinical case discussions and hands-on experience with instrumental tools

2. Certificate Course in Assessment and Rehabilitation of Vertigo and Balance Disorders

Duration: 6 Months

This interdisciplinary program focuses on rehabilitation-oriented management of vestibular disorders.

The certificate courses adopt a blended learning model combining online instruction with five days of intensive hands-on training.

Fellowship in Vestibular Medicine

An advanced academic and clinical training program aimed at developing future leaders in vestibular science.

  • Mode: In-person only
  • Duration: 13 Months
  • Intake: One Fellow per year

The fellowship curriculum aligns with international standards, including the Bárány Society Vestibular Medicine Curriculum.

Eligibility:

  • MS / DNB (ENT) or equivalent qualifications recognized by the NMC
